Epicure uncorked
RED WINE – over $25
Top-shelf reds are powerful with savoury fruit and spice,
oak and plenty of depth and complexity to last for years to
come.
Chateau Leamon Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2001
A good-quality Bendigo cabernet with plenty of regional
personality. There’s a minty, foresty edge to plummy fruit
and a layer of spicy oak fits in well. It’s ull-bodied and
quite profound with a very macho backbone of grippy tannins.
Food minted racks of lamb. Ageing yes, two to eight years. êêê
Riesling 2002 êêêêê
Complex pungent nose of
floral/citrus-like aromas. Full, rounded and well-balanced
palate with nice clean lingering flavours.

Winestate
No. 186 July/August 2003
Lovely
aromas of sweet varietal fruit and spice. Stewed berries and
bruised fruit on reasonable-weight palate lightly extracted.
Obvious but balanced tannins. Simple and ‘very Victorian.’
Critical Acclaim
Leading wine critic James Halliday in the 2003 Edition
of Australia Wine Companion had this to say about the
2000 Reserve Shiraz.
"Medium to full red-purple; the bouquet offers
rich, dark plum blackberry fruit married with attractive oak,
the palate fulfilling the promise of the bouquet, with smooth,
sweet dark plum fruit, hints of spice and soft tannins. The
best for some time from this distinguished producer."
Rating: 94 Points
"James' points scale: 94-97 As close to perfection
as the real world will allow."
